In 1996, Dr. Edward B. Fry created a new list with high frequency words (“Fry Words”), expanding on the Dolch List. These words are the most commonly used in English and are ranked according to frequency.
Dr. Fry discovered that 25 words account for 1/3 of all words published. 100 words make up half of all words published. 300 words make up 65%. Young readers should instantly recognize these high-frequency words.
These can be used by adults who are learning English as a second or third language, as well as children.
The app contains 500 words, divided into five levels. These levels are then broken down into groups of twenty-five based on their frequency and difficulty using a flashcard setting.
These features are included:
* The 500 first Fry Words
* When the card is touched, the word is spoken
* Cards can be marked to go on the Review list. Use the star to mark and the settings to clear.
* Long-press the arrow buttons to jump from start to end
See our Fry Words 2 app for the next 500 words.
