COVID CertificateCheck is the official app to check COVID certificates for Switzerland. The Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication FOITT developed it on behalf of Federal Office of Public Health. You can check whether the COVID certificate issued in Switzerland is valid or if it’s valid for you in Switzerland using this app.
How the app works
The smartphone camera can be activated by pressing the button on the screen. Once the app has captured the QR code, it will automatically open the app. The QR code will automatically be captured if you place it on paper or on a mobile phone with a holder application in the square. The system will immediately perform a check regarding Swiss validity rules.
- The certificate presented is valid if it has a tick and a background of green.
- The certificate presented is invalidated by an exclamation mark and a background of red.
- The check was rejected by the bank with an orange background and a question mark.
The certificate holder’s full name and birth date are also displayed. These details should be compared to the identification document.
Data protection is a top priority
It is not possible to store data regarding COVID certificates or checking processes. The digital signature of COVID certificates makes them unmistakeable. The app can only be used in Switzerland, and it is subject to Swiss law.
