COVID Certificate, the official app to store and present Swiss COVID certificates, is now available. The Federal Office of Information Technology, Systems and Telecommunication FOITT developed it on behalf of Federal Office of Public Health. A COVID certificate can be applied for by anyone in Switzerland who has been vaccinated or who has tested negative or recovered from COVID. How the app works
After the app has been installed on your mobile device, the app will be launched. A brief introduction gives information about how it works and how to scan a COVID certificate. The app allows you to select the COVID certificate required and can be presented if necessary. The app displays the date and time of your last vaccination or test, as well as how many years ago it was. You can view all data in the QR code of a certificate. The app can store multiple COVID certificates, e.g. You can store multiple COVID certificates in the app, e.g. for your family members or several COVID test certificate. The COVID Certificate app can be used at your own discretion and is free of charge.
Data protection is a top priority
The COVID certificate data are only stored on the mobile device. The digital seal (signature), that protects COVID certificates, makes them virtually unalterable. The FOITT generates COVID certificates, but they are not kept in a central database. It is therefore impossible to get a copy of a certificate issued. The app can only be used in Switzerland, and it is subject to Swiss law.

The COVID Certificate App is constantly being updated and improved. The following new features have been added to the current version:
• Given the lack of relevance of Swiss validity at home and abroad, it is now primarily the vaccination date or test date that is displayed.
• The Validity abroad feature has been removed because most EU DCC countries have lifted the certificate requirement for entry.
• Further optimisations and bug fixes.
