The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) is the Federal Government’s central institution in the area of public health. It also serves as the national institute for public health. This app allows digital COVID certificates from the EU to be saved directly to your smartphone. It allows anyone to quickly and securely prove their vaccination protection or recovery. You can also store digital COVID certificates from the EU for other people (e.g family members) using the app. The app lets users choose when and to whom their data and information should be disclosed.
HOW THE APP WORKS
The central function of the CovPass App is to provide evidence of Corona vaccinations and recover from Corona infection. The QR code displays only the necessary data to verify Corona status when users show it.
The QR code gives information about the validity and expiry dates of vaccinations or recovery certificates. During a check, the name and dateof birth can be clearly identified.
On request, Corona vaccinations can be certified with the EU digital COVID vaccination certificates. After the vaccination, medical staff generate the certificate. The QR code can be used to scan the certificate with the CovPass app. Just hold your smartphone’s camera over the QR code to load all information from the certificate onto it. On the home screen of the app, you will see the current QR code. If required, you can also show this code.
The EU digital COVID recovery certification certifies that you have recovered from Corona infection. After surviving a Corona infected, you can get the recovery certificate at your local doctor or health office. The QR code can be scan with the app. The certificate of recovery can then be documented on the smartphone.
You can also manage EU digital COVID certificates for other people (e.g. family members) on your smartphone.
The smartphone stores the data from the EU digital COVID certificate. The data and information can only be shown to the user.
HOW SECURE IS THE DATA?
Data protection is maintained for the duration of any use.
– No registration is required.
– Local data storage: All your data are stored only on your smartphone.
Data minimization: The QR codes are displayed with as little data as possible according to EU standards. Only the status of the certificate, name and date of birth will be displayed after the QR code is checked.
– Cryptographic security: The QR Code is encrypted with a strong signature that cannot be altered.
