Subtitles are only compatible with Chromecast or Apple TV 4.

The Chromecast supports only a few codecs/formats.
It can read containers such as mp4, mkv and 3gp, but it can also read m4v containers. All containers can use different codecs.

Subtitles are compatible with Chromecast or Apple TV 4:
– Opensubtitles.org Integration
After you have started a video, touch a subtitle file
Automatically, subtitles are added to the same folder.
A sub-folder can be created that will be searched.
You can change the subtitle timing, font background, and color.
Encoding subtitles in the settings: For arabic subtitles, choose UTF-8
Some DLNA servers include information about subtitles. Others don’t.

To stream the sound to your smartphone, touch the headphone symbol located on the “Now Playing” screen.
This is impossible to sync automatically, and network delays make it difficult.
This feature is still in beta. It might work some of the time.
