The New Jersey Department of Health (DOH), has made the COVID-Alert NJ App available to supplement New Jersey’s extensive COVID-19 contact trace effort. New Jerseyans can use COVID Alert NJ, a secure and free mobile phone app.
1. To be alerted if they are in close contact with an app user who has tested positive to COVID-19, even if the person is not a stranger.
2. You can track the symptoms of your loved ones and get help to protect yourself and others.
3. You can anonymously warn any other app users who were in close contact with you if they test positive for COVID-19, especially people they don’t know or recall being in close proximity with (e.g., on a bus/train ride, in public places).
4. For the most up-to-date information and statistics on the COVID-19 pandemic, click here
5. Reach out to NJ public health officials and connect with support services
All you need to do to make this work is to push the “Allow” button on your smartphone’s App to allow COVID-19 Exposure Information Services (ENS).

You can also allow your phone to turn ON the COVID-19 Exposure Information Services (ENS), and “Allow your phone display notifications” so you receive an alert when you are exposed to someone who has been positive for COVID-19. This functionality can be disabled at any time via the Settings page.

If you have been issued an Exposure Notification, please review the NJ DOH Advice section Exposure Notification Information and get in touch with a public-health representative.

COVID Alert NJ does not reveal any user’s identity to anyone else. It also doesn’t reveal who has been positive for COVID-19.
