Google Photos – The master among photo apps

Google’s photo app Google Photos is the new playground for amateur photographers. It lets you store all your photos and videos on your smartphone. The app automatically organizes your snapshots and outshines other programs such as Photos from Apple, Dropbox or Lightroom.

Google Photos is available for Android, iOS, and web apps.

We explain why Google Photos is better than the competition.

Limitless
Unlike other apps from the house, Google Photos knows no boundaries and is suitable for most platforms. The app integrates perfectly with Android smartphones, tablets, and iOS devices. Moreover, the program counts with a WebApp that can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection. However, the WebApp has some features as the mobile app version.

No problems with storage space
Google Photos offers unlimited storage space in the cloud and saves all photos in HD quality for free. One small catch: The photos are not saved in their original size. However, you still have 4.1 gigabytes of storage space available for that.

Also, for old-school photographers
Google Photos is designed to keep all the photos on your smartphone or tablet at your fingertips. But you still don’t have to rely on mobile devices to use it.

If you don’t have a smartphone or prefer to shoot with a digital camera, simply access the web app on your PC or Mac.

Filters, frames, and effects
Instagram has catapulted us into an era of quick and easy photo editing. Google Photos also makes itself available as a simple photo editor. Even if you’re not a full Photoshop pro, you’ll soon get to grips with the options.

You can trim the snapshots and add filters and light effects. For everyday use, the editing function is excellent.

Videos, animations, and stories
Among other things, Google Photos offers classic features like photo albums and collages. In addition, the app also enables photo stories and videos.

The results can be easily edited, and you can add descriptions and filters. The video editor is straightforward to use via drag and drop. You can then share the creative short films and stories with your friends on Facebook, WhatsApp, or e-mail. However, this option is only available on mobile devices.

The surprise effect among photo apps
Google Photos goes one step further and automatically creates spontaneous videos, stories, and animations. The application recognizes which photos belong together via details such as locations, dates, or faces.

Technology or magic, after all
The real magic of Google Photos, however, is in the search. You type in any search term, and the app returns the matching results. For example, I entered “green dress,” and the search spits out the photos in the image below.

The system could be better and sometimes returns wrong or no results. But Google is still working on improving this option.

In addition, you can also search for faces, places, or things if needed. This makes creating photo albums and collages a breeze.

Simply suitable for everyone
You can be a partial professional by using Google Photos. It is very intuitive to use and still offers advanced photo management and editing options. You also don’t have to spend much time organizing photos; the app does that automatically.

Whether you are an advanced user or a complete beginner – Google Photos makes the life of smartphone photographers much more manageable.
